At the risk of validating the response below, the extremity of the claim--that this essay says that "American civilians had it coming" on 9/11—necessitates a response.
A careful reading of the essay shows I said nothing of the sort. I'll assume the claim is in reference to two statements in the essay. The first is:
"This aspect of the plot has direct parallels with the foreign policy of the United States—the U.S. in bed with al-Qaeda funding and encouraging them when the benefits are coming our way. If and when the seed bears bad fruit and we find bullets, bombs, or commercial jetliners heading our way, everyone suddenly wants answers and nobody wants to hear the answer."
This makes the easily verifiable claim that the United States has a long history with various Middle Eastern Islamic groups, especially as those groups were working for the interests of the U.S. (as in the Afghan war with the Soviets) sometimes supporting them with weapons and other resources. (Article) So I do suggest that we shouldn't be surprised when terrorists we have supported in their violence against others inflict that same unjust and heinous violence against us is certainly true. But that this implies that I think that anyone in the United States or anywhere else, civilian or otherwise, "had it coming" is untrue and ridiculous and cannot be gleaned from my essay.
"Poppa’s (Bush Sr.) war has become Junior’s war (Bush Jr.)—just as after September 11, 2001, Junior has had no choice but to continue the war begun by Poppa on January 16, 1991."
Here is the assertion (somewhat uncommon then, very common now) that Bush Jr's response to 9/11 would be to attack Iraq, even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, in order to finish the business that his father had with Iraq (i.e. the first Gulf War). Unfortunately, I was right about this—at least about the fact that the US would attack Iraq in response to 9/11. What all of Bush Jr.'s motivations were, I can't be sure.
Again, that these statements, or anything else in the essay, even hint that anyone who suffered as a result of 9/11 "had it coming" is utterly and totally false.
I like most of your reviews. Everyone is entitled to your opinion and I like funny articles. That said, any indication that innocent American civilians that were murdered in the September 11 attacks had it coming? That's just sick.
The comparison of Washingtons character to Bush Sr. is very unique
and hillarious at the same time. Jr. never beats Sr.'s a** the way he does in the movie.
The whole idea is to not poke your nose where it is not supposed to be. The same oil Jr.'s going for he already has
he just needs to prove his wolfhood to poppa wolf. I wonder if Washington will run for president?
