The Gospel According to James (Cameron)

Ross Douthat nails it on the head this crassmas season:  “Avatar” is Cameron’s long apologia for pantheism — a faith that equates God with Nature, and calls humanity into religious communion with the natural world.

Carol Yoon adds to this, suggesting scientific awe is also an appropriate response to Avatar.

Even better: the bad guys aren’t the “mad scientists.”

Avatar reviews follow the same lines:
Mostly negative for interests such as: religious / corporate / conservative
Mostly positive when the POV is: progressive / scientific / secular
...and judging by the number of ‘reviews’ ‘opinions’ and ‘critics’ pitching them, one more proof we have more individuals that comment than the ones that actually create.
Cheers
