Fritz Lang's Metropolis, 1927

Metropolis (1927)

Workers of the world, do it again.

This is the twentieth century of the mind. Memories forever.

High school, state universities, government funded cloning factories. The real question is, what is the answer? Do we destroy the machine, dying in the ensuing flood, thus paying penance for the mistake of letting it be constructed? Do we put the machine to a differant use, turning the Devil’s handiwork into Heaven’s tools? Or do we gather around our Maria and pray for our mediator? If we really take what this says to heart, we BECOME the mediator, don’t we?
